Pre-conference Workshop - Tuesday 25th January

Diversity is a critical element of a military engineer’s operational work. As the operating environment continues to become more complex, military engineers are finding themselves working with a wide range of civilian organisations. This workshop is designed to maximise interactively between the military and some of the leading civilian organisations operating in disaster relief, stability operations and contractor support today.

Programme Day 1 - Wednesday 26th January:

  • Strategic insight, practical solutions

Effective military engineering operations require planning, organisation and above all, well trained personnel. This first main day of the conference will focus on the strategy and doctrine necessary for effective engineering operations as well as a focus on an armed forces most important asset - it’s people.

  • Force insight session

Flexibility is the key to success and in the current economic climate - flexibility means value for money. This session will focus on the latest changes to operational engineering structures in making our assets more deployable and better prepared than ever.

  • Training insight session

Armed forces train their personnel differently in order to deal with their own unique engineering needs. This session will include presentations and time for interactive discussion from three of the leading nations at the forefront of combat operations.

  • Innovation showcase session

The defence industry is an integral battle-winning element when it comes to the delivery and support of modern military engineering equipment. The following four short presentations are designed to give you a bite sized insight into the very latest innovations offered by the defence industry.

Programme Day 2 - Thursday 27th January:

  • Operational and tactical challenges

The operational environment is constantly changing. Whether it is mobility challenges in a disaster stricken area or combat engineering support on operations in Afghanistan then this final day of the conference will provide you with lessons learned and operational feedback that you will want to hear and discuss.

  • Feedback and lessons learned session

The following four presentations and subsequent interactive discussions will provide you with exclusive access to current and recently returned operational commanders from both current conflicts and ongoing developments around the world.

  • Innovation showcase session

This session provides you with another opportunity to listen and interact with the leaders from industry who are producing and delivering innovative products and services to the military engineering community.

  • Counter-IED and EOD challenges session

The final session of this conference focuses on one of the most challenging areas of military engineering support – how to detect and defeat the wide range of improvised threats. The session will also focus on traditional EOD support.
